Bourne-Vanneck Final – 12 July 2026
The men’s stroke-play aggregate team championship final took place on the Wellington Course at Sherfield Oaks on Sunday 12 July. There were 15 teams of 3 competing from the black tees on what was another sun-drenched day. The course like many others was very dry, but the greens were once again very well presented and there were some good scores returned.
Ultimately it was Batchwood Hall, represented by Jason Kirby, Geoff Kirby and Justin Saunders, shooting an aggregate score of 230 (+14) who retained the Bourne Vanneck Cup for the best team gross and now go on to represent the NAPGC in the England Golf County Champions tournament.
The Bourne Vanneck Shield meanwhile was awarded to Southsea, represented by Matt Sheath, Damien Kenna and Mark Strain, who shot a very good 218 (+2) aggregate score.
The runners up in the gross were Portsmouth (+20) and in the nett Risebridge (+10).
Meanwhile, the best gross of the day went to Jason Kirby (Batchwood Hall) with a 73 (+1) and the best nett went to Russell Harber (Hatchford Brook) with a 68 (-4) score.
Thanks to all clubs and players who took part and to Anne Butcher and Neil Jennings for managing the final with me.
