Men’s Scratch Championship 2026 at Woodhall Spa
Saturday 15 August (Hotchkin Course) – Sunday 16 August (Bracken Course)
The men’s scratch championship saw a talented field of 21 players competing to be the NAPGC champion for 2026. Weather was good with the courses as ever providing a challenging test especially given the dry running conditions, not to mention all the bunkers.
A three over gross 76 by Liam Cella from Haste Hill was the leading score on the first day with Gavin Abbassi from Hoebridge four shots back on 80 and then several players on 82 and 83.
Liam followed up with a steady 77 on day to make the chasing task very difficult. Matt Leddy from Little Hay also shot a 77 as did Rajbir Ghimire but no one closed the gap on Liam whose 153 total for the 36 holes was enough to take the scratch title.
Matt Leddy finished second to lift the Southern Trophy on 159 with Gavin in 3rd place on 163. The Midland scratch trophy was lifted by Gareth Metcalf with 184.
Liam now goes on to represent the NAPGC in the England Golf Champion of Champions, back at Woodhall Spa in September.
