NAPGC returns to Woodhall Spa for the UKPCC Finals

The NAPGC were delighted to return to Woodhall Spa over the weekend 31st August – 1st September for the UKPCC Finals.

On Saturday it was the turn of the ladies to take on a particularly challenging Bracken Course. the course was actually set up to also host the England Boys U15 & U17 selection so it is fair to say that the greens were extremely fast and tricky!

Despite this, the field of 26 Ladies acquitted themselves well and enjoyed the day, particularly the marvellous facilities at the home of England Golf.

The competition was a very close run affair with only 5 points separating the top 10 players. However the UKPCC Nett Championship title was lifted by Vickie Motley from Easthampstead with a very creditable 33 points, just beating Alison Clayton on count back.

The overall Gross Champion, playing of just 0.4, was Demi Maxey. Demi played an extremely impressive round to lift the trophy and it was lovely to see this talented young lady playing such great golf.

The divisional winners were Carol Hardy in division 1 with Elizabeth Merryman taking the runners up prize. In division 2, Alison Clayton prevailed over Penny Gilham.

On Sunday it was time for the men to take on the Bracken course and again the course was incredibly challenging. The greens has been cut again and great use had been made of their undulations with some very touch pin positions.

Those with early tee times had to contend with some very heavy showers but overall the weather was reasonably kind to the field. Given the tricky nature of the course, high scores were hard to come be with only 11 of the field achieving a score of 30+ points.

In the Nett Championship, Callum Hasell excelled to lift the trophy with an impressive 37 points beating Barry Rayner by 1 point. As with the ladies it was great to see this talented young player in action and we shall certainly see more of him. The overall Gross Champion was Paul Dixon, playing off 0.7 so a great achievement.

Divisional honours went to Alexander King in Division 1 with Peter Skidmore taking the runner up prize and Ben Currie the third place.

Division 2 winner went to Brian Cnudde, with Yani Chocallingum runner up and Stephen Field in 3rd.

Division 3 was won by Barry Rayner, with Dave Dempsey runner up and George Grant in 3rd place.

Both the Nett and Gross Ladies and Mens champions will be invited back to the UKPCC finals in 2025 to defend their titles.

Very well done to all our finalists, it is a great achievement to get to any final! Also our grateful thanks go to the team at Woodhall Spa who look after us all so well.
