PETITION – South Buckinghamshire Golf Course

Sign the Petition.

Many of the members of the South Buckinghamshire Golf Club asked what can be done after the hostile move by the Buckinghamshire Council and Wycombe Wanderers Football Club last week.

Here is what you can do: sign a petition.

To give you context, the Council had assured their support to the Golf Club after members took over its management in 2016:

“South Bucks District Council will continue to support South Bucks Golf Club, in whatever format it is operated in the future, and hopefully there will be further developments in the future at both courses.”

As we know one of the golf courses was closed the following year (Lanes was a nine hole golf course with a driving range).

Then in August 2025 the Council and WWFC reassured:

“The sites will remain open as usual for users throughout the design and planning process…”

But this promise was broken only 6 months later with the new approach being:

“We will be moving to a 9-hole course format with a pay-as-you-play model.”

This decision has been taken while:

• A lease between Council and WWFC has not even been signed
• The Council–WWFC design and planning process has only just begun
• Substantial planning and legal questions remain unresolved

Many of us believe that permanent changes to public recreational land should not be embedded before due process has run its course.

For that reason, a formal petition has now been launched. This petition is not anti-football and not anti-investment. It simply asks the Council to:

• Reverse the immediate reduction to 9 holes
• Honour its own public commitment that the site would remain open “as usual” during the planning process
• Avoid irreversible change before planning and legal clarity
• Protect the Green Belt buffer between Stoke Poges and Farnham Royal

Whether one supports or opposes the football academy proposal is not even the point here.

The point is governance, transparency and accountability.

If you believe:
• Public commitments should be honoured
• Green Belt land should be protected
• Public facilities should not be reduced prematurely
• Major changes should follow due process

please consider adding your name.

Every signature strengthens the case for proper scrutiny and fair treatment.
