England Golf – Champion Junior Club 2025
The English Junior Champion Club tournament took place from 12-13 August 2024 at Spalding Golf Course. Teams consist of 3 players, each playing 36 holes across two days, with the best two net stableford scores each day counting for the team aggregate score. There were 31 Clubs in attendance with the NAPGC represented by our Champion Club Easthampstead; team members were – Elinor Sleigh, Huxley Davies and Oliver Millington.
There were some good scores on day one with Easthampstead sharing the overnight lead alongside Bungay & Waveney Valley on an aggregate 85 points. Most notable was the contribution of Elinor, who playing off a handicap index of 11.6 (playing handicap 13) shot level par for 49points.
The top aggregate score on day two was 80 points. Easthampstead were just behind on 78, with all three players scoring well on 42, 36 and 35 points. Meanwhile, Bungay and Waveney Valley could only manage 71. This gave Easthampstead an overall total of 163 points to top the leaderboard win by 7 points in total.
This is a fantastic achievement for Easthampstead GC and the NAPGC, putting a marker down which helps to recognise the value of public and proprietary golf clubs and courses. As an organisation we are very proud of this achievement.
It was also a fitting achievement for Easthampstead GC in their 50th year of existence, and also because of its association with the late Jeff Retalic, a long-standing member and Junior organiser at the club as well as NAPGC Board Member.
With qualification to the EG final via the NAPGC Junior Championship it could be your club representing the NAPGC next year!
